WordPress 2.5 Upgrades All Around

By BBoyd • Apr 1st, 2008 • Category: WordPress

I think I can speak for most of us who have used the public release of 2.5 (aka, logged into the admin area and used it) when I say WOOOHOOOOO!
Automatic plugin updates (and I am assuming, thus, auto WP updates too), a simple media manager with a gallery creator built in, and a much cleaner interface (all those hours of hacking it, poof)….and really, lots more.
I spent about a week testing the release candidate, and wish I had gotten in on the process earlier for many reasons. I really haven’t felt up to speed enough to join in on the development community side of WP until very recently. I still feel a weakling compared to some of the more prominent personalities, but I know what makes a useful community is users of all levels. I’m working on a few plugin and theme releases soon, once I get caught up on all my upgrades and a few things marked off of that neverending to-do list. Expect a theme in the next week or two once I work out any implications of the

tag showing the CSS of galleries from the new gallery feature in the excerpt on some of my conditional statements in it (you’ll see).

Meantime, all clients using WordPress should be expecting backups and upgrades on their sites (if you haven’t already been upgraded), of course you will be contacted privately before anything serious takes place.
