My father and uncle are both pilot car drivers, and one of my younger brothers a trucker. One of my favorite jobs before becoming a freelancer was at a scrap yard, in large part because of all the trucks and machinery…but mostly because of the people. No nonsense and no bull…that’s just how I like things.

While creating my father’s site, AllAmericanPilotCarServices.com, and one for his colleagues the Hills- Call4PilotCars.com I discovered that many in the transport industry have been left behind in the ‘Web 2.0, Social Networking, Blogging, CMS, Standards Compliant, CSS driven’ design waves of the last few years. Sites for comparable companies were, sadly, either lacking entirely, or designed clearly with a lot of effort, but not much style and professionalism. In talking with other owner/operators, most were entirely unaware that they could easily have sites that could be added to any time, by them- not by an expensive designer. Many sites I found were being run on outdated and insecure software, had code that broke pages or shut down the browser, or had ‘features’ that would send most visitors running. That’s just sad. Sad and wrong.
